“ This is a super neat place to have dinner. The food is amazing epically the mutton chop, It wasnt even that gamey, it was super tender and excellently seasoned. The steaks and all the sides are very good as well. The service is what you would expect at an upscale restaurant like this. “ After a long day walking around New York, we hit up the number one place on my food wish list, and it didn't disappoint. You can't come here and not have the mutton chop. Oh my life! It was incredible, truly incredible. My wife had the New York strip, which she could have cut with her spoon in was so soft. Chips and creamed spinach for sides, and we walked out of here so contented. A must try place and worth every cent we spent. A wonderful restaurant with brilliant service and an amazing history. ”
“ Amazing steak, medium rare to medium throughout the cut, no grey area and warm till served!!!! French fries are hand-cut and Caesars Salad was very fresh. Paid 180 for a main steak that was more than enough for a party of two. Their IPA, a cocktail and 2 deserts. Great value for money... A true NYC GEM!!! Must visit!! Must get a steak there!!!! New York locals eat there. As per its Vibe, an authentic Steakhouse. No fancy lighting or modern minimal tasteless aesthetics. If you appreciate restaurants that focus on execution Keens is a spot you will love! Service is super nice and their suggestions are spot on! Trust them they are in for the long run!!!! Shamed to say that I didn’t read into the history of Keens but I’m sure it has lasted GENERATIONS ”
“ Very good steak and the sauce selection covered many bases. We got a few steaks including the mutton and each were good. Personally, I loved the appetizers, especially the spinach. And the desserts were great. Highly recommend the Lady M chocolate cake and the hot fudge sundae. ”
“ Visiting New York from Salt Lake City. I travel all over the United States for work and play. This was my first visit to Keens Steakhouse. If you are looking for a great steak, good service, and nice ambience this is the place to put at the top of your list. Went for me and my wife's 10th wedding anniversary. Had their baked blue cheese ball which comes served with the best hollandaise sauce that I have ever tasted and the ball or more like a souffle. I had the wedge salad which was fantastic my wife had the soup of the night which was leek and potato both were very good. We shared the T-bone and it did not disappoint. Easily one of the top five steaks I've eaten in my life. The clay pipes on the ceiling and the story behind the restaurant added to the experience. Very enjoyable evening the wait staff provided excellent service. I would say it is more of a must-do than just a night out for dinner. Surprisingly the prices were similar to a Ruth Chris or Fleming's like Steakhouse or similar. ”
“ Getting a reservation at Keens the day before was tough, but we managed to snag a late 8:30 PM slot. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar while we waited. The bar was packed—standing room only, and finding a seat was impossible. Fortunately, they were able to seat us about 30 minutes early, which was a nice surprise. Keens is housed in a historic building with an old-school New York charm. The ceilings were lined with the largest collection of smoking pipes in the world, adding to the restaurant’s unique character. Once seated, the service was quick and efficient. We ordered a mix of classics to share: the famous mutton with mint jelly, the prime porterhouse for two (medium-rare), creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and grilled seasonal vegetables. Before the food arrived, they brought out a big basket of bread (which we didn’t try) and a plate with huge carrot chunks—oddly cut and hard to eat—along with some pickles and olives. The food itself was incredible. The porterhouse was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and exactly medium-rare. The mutton lived up to its reputation, and all the sides complemented the meal perfectly. Keens is definitely a must-visit for steak lovers, just be prepared for the crowds! ”
